LB 134 Priority Bill

From: Great Plains Trails Network

LB 134 has been designated as a priority bill by Senator Dave Pankonin (Cass County). As written, it would bar the use of eminent domain by a Natural Resources District for development of recreational trails or corridors unless the use is associated with a flood control structure.

This change would have an immediate negative impact on the completion of the MoPac Trail and restrict future projects.

Please help prevent passage of this bill by the Nebraska Unicameral.

I would appreciate some volunteers to write letters to the editors of newspapers and would be happy to review your drafts if you want some help.

Please contact your Senator and any you may know to express your concern. E mail, calls and letters are all appropriate. Contact information can be found at: http://nebraskalegislature.gov/senators/senator_find.php

Other elected officials, the Governor, Mayors, etc and the Natural Resource District officials should also be alerted to the concerns about the negative impact of this proposed legislation.

Many athletic groups make use of the trails for training and we would encourage coaches, youth, parents and boosters to join in this effort.

Feel free to forward this correspondence to others. Thank you.
