Vote on the Official Shirt

Below are two choices for the 2009 Race Shirt. The Race Shirt is the techincal running shirt you get with your entry, you don't have to wear it on race day.

Please vote for which design you like better. The one on the top is horizontal design the on the bottom is vertical.

Stage Rating Scale

I am working on the race day guide book today. I remember quite a few people saying that they didn't feel some of the legs did not match up with the ranking of Easy, Moderate, Moderate/Hard, or Hard.

Here is a link to an old Blog with the most updated Maps of the course.

Would anyone like to chime in on how they feel what each leg should be rated. I base most of my ranking on elevation gain and very little on distance. Some people will say that stage 1 is way easier because it is 2.77 (6% grade in some sections and has a hill for 1.5 miles) than stage 4 because it is 5.00 miles (which gains maybe 20 feet).

Stage 1 2.77 H
Stage 2 4.19 MH
Stage 3 5.09 EM
Stage 4 5.00 EM
Stage 5 5.40 EM
Stage 6 4.70 MH
Stage 7 3.49 M
Stage 8 4.50 EM
Stage 9 5.41 EM
Stage 10 5.50 EM
Stage 11 3.00 H
Stage 12 3.59 M
Stage 13 3.91 EM
Stage 14 3.02 E
Stage 15 4.33 M
Stage 16 3.58 E
Stage 17 4.14 E
Stage 18 3.35 E
Stage 19 2.72 EM
Stage 20 2.95 E
Stage 21 3.64 E
Group 0.15 E

Registration is this week

Early Captain's Registration. Monday
Lottery Tuesday to Saturday.

We fielded a bunch of questions about these two things at the Lincoln Marathon Expo.
1) The race is NOT SOLD OUT. It will be at the end of this week, but as of right now there is spots available through the lottery.

2)It doesn't matter when you enter the lottery as long as you do it sometime next week. If you sign up on Tuesday at 8:01 Am you will not have a better chance then if sign up on Saturday at 4:45 pm. We will randomly pick 50 teams.

3) The early Captain's Registration-does not mean if you were in the event last year that you have an automatic spot into the 2009 relay. We will take the first 80 teams that sign up out of the 150 teams that were in the event last year.

4) I don't need all the names, shirt sizes, email addresses.... when you sign up next week for the lottery or the early captain's registration. I will ask for those at a later date.

5) I have no idea how many people will sign up for the lottery. It could be 10 it could be 300. My guess is it will be more than 50, which would mean that if you don't sign up for the lottery then you missed your chance for 2009 relay.

Good Luck.

The running season is in full swing with many people running their first half or full marathon of the year last week and the rest of us to follow in the next few weeks.

I just wanted to make sure that you knew about the new registration format for the 2nd Annual Market To Market Relay presented by Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital. The race is an 84 mile team relay from Omaha to Lincoln. In 2008 the event sold out 3 months in advance and had over 50 teams on a waiting list. This year we have decided to change the format on how teams enter the race.

May 5th to May 9th an online lottery will be available at www.m2mrelay.com At this time you will have the opportunity to put your team’s name into a “hat” and then 50 names will be pulled from that hat to compete in the race. The race will have a total of 150 to 170 teams but the rest of the teams in the race will be teams that participated in 2008, won their division or a contest, sponsor the race, or meet the minimum speed requirement for the Citizens Class A Division.
Check out the website for all of the details including course maps, results and pictures from 2008, and much more. www.m2mrelay.com

Thanks for spreading the word,
Ben Cohoon

Ni-Bthaska-Ke Trail Run

For all you trail runners this is event that like the Wyco Pscyo Run Toto Run is a tough single track race.

The Ni-Bthaska-Ke Trail Run
The 12k course is on rugged and very hilly single track terrain.
Total elevation change was GPSed at 3400 feet. Not much else to say except this is not a typical city sidewalk or crushed rock trail run.

The Ni-Bthaska-Ke trail run is one of the most difficult races in the midwest.
When you finish the race you will feel a great sense of accomplishment. This is a very unique race for this area, so if you are up for a challenge while taking
in the beauty of the scenic Platte River State Park wilderness, this is the event for you.

Parking is available by the Mallet lodge, or tennis court areas. The race starts on the dam, across the street from the tennis courts. I hope to see y'all out there. Happy trails.
